Reclaimed Remilled Antique Flooring

Product Information: This wallcovering is a commercial wallcovering that features REcore Wall Technology, and includes 30% recycled content and a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled content, and backed with 100% recycled polyester. It also contributes up to six LEED credits, with its low VOC's. The wallcovering is printed with water based inks. Omnova was the first manufacturer to achieve GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification, as well as this product. Another great thing about this product is that it can be recycled through the manufacturers Reclamation Program, which is rarely done by wallcovering manufacturers.

Product Information: This fireplace is literally a flame sculpture. This product is made of light-weight aluminum, and is as easy to install as a flat screen TV. It requires no chimney because of its adjustable bio-ethanol burner, and burns liquid denatured ethanol. The ethanol is biodegradable and a renewable energy source. The fire emits a very small amount of carbon dioxide and water vapor, so its harmless. This Swedish fireplace is actually more efficient than a chimney fireplace because none of the heat escapes through a chimney rather, it is released into the room. Price tag: $2,500

Stainless Steel Luxury Bath Decor

Product Information: Neo-Metro designs and manufacturers beautiful, high-end stainless steel bath decor, and 80% of that decor is designed to meet ADA protocol. The company (USGBC member) uses 80% recycled stainless steel to make all of their products. Stainless steel, which is a recycled material and so their bath decor can be scrapped out and continually be recycled. Another great thing is that this product (as well as the rest of their products) are designed to reduce water consumption. They do this along with AcornVac, a part of their company that focuses on vacuum plumbing, which works toward LEED points for new buildings. This double sink made of stainless steel, and topped with an opaque white resin, has an 'invisible' drain, and can be outfitted with sensor-activated faucets, which would reduce water consumption even more.

Wallcovering

Product Information: This wallcovering looks really unique, and I am using it for my China project. It feels like leather, but looks like glue was applied to a wall and red tissue paper was put on top and then messed with to create these triangular raised lines that make you want to touch it. It is actually made form 100% vinyl. It is recommended by the manufacturer to avoid using this wallcovering where moisture is prevalent, especially in warm humid climates. Its not cheap either, it costs $20 a yard.

Product Information: This beautiful fabric comes in a variety of color options and has very impressive specifications. It won gold for Best of Neocon, so you know its amazing. This fabric is made of 100% Post-consumer recycled polyester, finished with Greenshield + moisture barrier, and is very durable (60,000 double rubs). The most interesting thing about this fabric is that it contains Woven Agion, a product that utilizes a silver/copper ion bi-component technology, thus making the fabirc non-toxic to people, animals, and plants by not off-gassing anything. Agion makes the fabric resistant to bacteria, microbes, mildew, and bleach; and anti-fungal, flame retardant, and fade resistant. This fabric is great to use in homes, hospitals, offices, schools, anywhere really.

Also, this product is GREENGUARD Certified. It is made of many sheets of kraft paper and layers of different resins that are heated at a high temperature, thus creating a beautiful solid laminate material that is very flexible and easy work with. It can be used for almost any application, except showers, pools, and other high-moisture areas. It is extremely durable, and actually exceeds NEMA's wear standards by up to 400%!

Maharam is a very eco-conscious company that is setting the standards for many companies in the same industry. It is GREENGUARD certified, and can contribute to LEED credits for LEED NC and LEED CI.

Star! Dust!!

Product: Handcrafted Glass Tiles

Product Information: Stardust Glass makes beautiful glass tiles that are so different (better) from other glass tile manufacturers. Each tile a 3D look it, which for me knocks out all of their competitors. They look at the creation process of their tiles not as a manufacturing process but that of an artistic process. Each tile is put in a kiln instead of a furnace, which uses more energy and creates harmful emissions. The tiles are made from 97% pre-consumer scrap glass, that would have ordinarily gone to the landfill. All of this scrap glass comes from within 250-500 miles of their manufacturing site. So of course this product contributes to LEED Credits for: Recycled Content and Regional Materials.

Wood That's Better Than Wood!

This material is very environmentally friendly and contributes to quite a few LEED Credits for: Recycled Content; Regional Materials (must be within 500 miles of the manufacturing facility in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to qualify); Rapidly Renewable Materials; Low-Emitting Materials for: Adhesives & Sealants, Composite Wood and Agrifiber products; Low-Emitting Materials: Systems Furniture & Seating. It is also GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified. One component (kraft paper) of the product is made from 22% pre-consumer recycled material. Product information: This champagne colored, embossed-looking surface material is made Aluminum. Made of 85% recycled content, and of that 85%, 100% is post-consumer recycled material. Adhesives and sealants used for installation, must not exceed the VOC limits required by LEED EQ Credit 4.1- Low Emitting Materials- Adhesives and Sealants. Do not use this material for exterior applications, only use it on interior vertical surfaces. It is a very low-maintenance material, clean with mirror glass cleaner or cleaner that contains ammonia. It's rather pricy, it costs $9.50 a square foot, but a small size application would be worth the price.

This product is lightweight, its about half the weight of glass, but it has 40-times the impact strength of glass, so it makes for a much easier installation and reduces structural support material. The manufacturers "ecoresin" contains UV stabilizers within the resin so the panels colors and textures remain unchanged by long exposure to the sun. It is so customizable, it can be used in any application. SCS-Certified recycled content helps achieve LEED credits for building sustainability. This product is re-used at the end of its life cycle and is picked up by the manufacturer.

Product Info: This environmentally friendly product is made in a really unique way. The manufacturer breaks up consumer bottles into bits, shakes them around like the spin cycle of a washing machine, (which creates round pebbles about 1cm in diam.) mounts what's left onto 12" x 12" interlocking sheets of mesh backing. This process generates very little energy because there is no melting involved in the manufacturing process.

Applications: wet or dry conditions, indoor and outdoor use, floors, pools, spas, walls, showers, countertops, back splashes.
